Under the current official procedure, a person who believes they meet the agreement conditions may apply personally at the Ayuntamiento where they are registered on the Padrón.

What to take / expect
- Go to the Ayuntamiento in the municipality where you are registered on the Padrón.
- Take your valid TIE and a photocopy.
- If you were registered on the Padrón before 1 January 2021, the current rules also allow a UK national to establish identity using a UK national identity document or passport where applicable.
- If the authorities cannot verify your period of legal residence electronically, they may require a residence certificate issued by the Police.
- Ask to apply for inclusion in the electoral census for the 2027 municipal election.
